Hansi Flick: 'The first half was close to what we had in mind'

A superb first half helped Bayern to their first away points of this still-young Bundesliga season, beating hosts Arminia Bielefeld 4-1. "After a long [international] break, the first game back is always important," said Robert Lewandowski, scorer of a brace in the game and recently back from matches with his national team, happy with the win after the match. He went on to say though: "The second half however was not good enough from us. We had two, three chances to score, but we also made two or three errors." fcbayern.com are on hand to bring you the best quotes from after the game.

Hansi Flick: "The first half was close to what we want. But we had about five minutes where we were too careless. I'm not pleased about that and that made our lives somewhat difficult. For me, Thomas Müller with Robert Lewandowski were our two best players in the match. Of course we can defend better than we did, but we're also missing some training sessions. It will be a challenge, but there is no other option and for that reason we'll take it."

Manuel Neuer: "We performed well. It was a great pitch. We could play our game and put Arminia under pressure early. They nonetheless still tried to play out the back. It was important that we took advantage of chances we had in the 18-yard box. It was important for us to score too. We gave a good account of ourselves. Unfortunately we conceded a goal, but we scored four. That says a lot about our attack."

Robert Lewandowski: "The first 45 minutes we clearly showed that we wanted to win. We scored three goals and made a few good chances. However, Arminia played well with the ball. They're showing this season that they're up for a fight and can put together some good performances. We weren't good enough in the second half. We had two or three chances to score, but we made two or three errors. After a long break the first game back is always important."

Bielefeld reaction:

Uwe Neuhaus (Arminia Bielefeld's head coach): "The fact that FC Bayern have another level of quality, that we know. We knew before the game too that we could lose by a lot of goals. But nonetheless we aren't happy, particularly with the first half. We still have the capacity to improve at the back and in attack."

Fabian Klos (Arminia Bielefeld captain): "We didn't do so badly at all. We managed to execute 80% of the plan we set out to realise ahead of the game. We wanted to stand strong and make things difficult for Bayern. They are quite simply the best team in the world. We did quite well in that respect. We can't be criticised for not giving our all."
