Flick: In the end, it's the result that counts

Hard work, but in the end a deserved three points! FC Bayern celebrated a 2-1 away win against 1. FC Köln on Saturday, and with that secured their eighth victory in a row. "Today was not our best game. In the end, we got the three points and we're happy about that," said Serge Gnabry, scorer of Bayern's second goal. Coach Hansi Flick said: "I'm satisfied with the three points, but less so with the game." fcbayern.com has compiled the reaction to the game.

Reaction to the match:

Hansi Flick: "In the end it's the result that counts. I'm very satisfied with our attitude, the mentality and the desire to win. At 2-0 we missed the chance to make it 3-0. The victory is deserved. But in the end we made life difficult for ourselves, it required far too much energy. Köln did well then, us less so. I'm satisfied with the three points, less so with the game itself."

Thomas Müller: "It was a laboured victory. Especially because we unfortunately missed the chance to score the third goal at the beginning of the second half. Then anything could have happened until the final whistle. It wasn't a glitzy or glamorous performance. We'll take it as it is. We certainly too often lost the ball carelessly and acted a bit too casually during the game. Köln lay deep a lot. They did that well. Nevertheless, we could have been a bit more clinical in a couple of situations and got at goal more. The passion was there to take the victory with us. Not criticising ourselves, but we've definitely been better."

Serge Gnabry: "We seldom had the feeling that we were secure, that we had a lot of ball control. In the second half we lost the ball too many times, letting our opponents back in. Today was not our best performance. In the end, the three points are ours and we're happy about that."

What the hosts said:

Markus Gisdol (1. FC Köln head coach): “We should have taken a point. A few situations went against us. After our good start, they got a penalty. We then had some chances, but just before the interval a poitional error saw us go 2-0 down. The goal we got back came too late, unfortunately we didn’t have any more chances to make it 2-2. The team were very disciplined in defence and were solid, so it feels odd [to lose].”

Ismail Jakobs (1. FC Köln): “We got into the game well, Bayern had no chances - and then the penalty killed the game. Even after the penalty, we were really good in the game and gave very little away. But against Bayern it’s very difficult to catch up.”
