Robert Lewandowski joined the Polish national team and David Alaba represented Austria in international matches on Sunday evening - this is how they did:
Poland slip to 3rd place in Group A1

Poland suffered a setback in the battle for the UEFA Nations League semi-finals. Jerzy Brzęczek's team were defeated 2-0 in Italy on Sunday evening and lost top position in Group A1 to the Squadra Azzurra. Jorginho (27, penalty) and Domenico Berardi (83) scored for the 2006 world champions, while Poland struggled to get top scorer Lewandowski into position against the solid Italian defence. Poland now need a win against the Netherlands in their final group game on Wednesday (18 November 2020, 8:45 pm), and have to hope Italy slip up against bottom side Bosnia-Herzegovina, if they are to advance to to the final four.
Alaba and Co. on the rise

It was a better day for David Alaba, who played the full 90 minutes on Sunday evening in Vienna in Austria's 2-1 win against Northern Ireland. After Josh Magennis (77) scored the opening goal for the visitors, Louis Schaub (81) and Adrian Grbic (87) turned the game around late on, and Austria now occupy first place in Group 1 in the B-League. A draw at home to Norway next Wednesday (8:45 pm) would be enough to see Franco Foda’s team advance to the A-League. The Norwegians have played one game fewer after their match against Romania was cancelled on Sunday.
Germany and France both celebrated victories in the Nations League on Saturday evening.
