Dear fans,
The year 2020 has brought us the second treble in our club’s history, as well as the European and German Super Cups. It’s been a dream, and on the pitch things could hardly have gone better. Yet the joy over these historic achievements has been dampened somewhat. That’s because something very important was missing in the stadiums: you, the fans. No spectators means no celebrating together – something which has affected all of us. And sadly, coronavirus has now also forced us to cancel this year’s Christmas visits to the fan clubs, for which we’re deeply sorry.
For us players, these encounters with you have become a much-loved tradition, which we enjoy year after year. It never fails to amaze us how much heart and effort you put in so that we can all spend a few nice hours together before Christmas. This tradition has been going for over 30 years, and we can promise you that we’ll come back to you next December, if the pandemic allows. For now, we’ve produced a video packed with memories for you: watch it here.
For us as a team, it was hard to enjoy our many titles this year as much as we should have done. Your emotions drive us on, we play football to make you in the stands happy – and to celebrate with you at the end of it. We miss you, and in this situation we’ve gone an extra metre more to make you at home proud and happy.
As 2020 comes to an end, it’s important that we as a team as well as the entire executive committee, board and coaching staff say a special thank you to you. The FC Bayern Munich fans deserve Champions League glory every year. The way you support us is always incredible. Sadly, we had to keep our distance in 2020 but as players we’ve still always felt that you were with us, no matter where we were. That togetherness is what makes a club; we can only achieve our goals together. That begins with our team structure, goes through the whole club and reaches you fans all around the world. You’re all a vital part of ‘Mia san mia’. It’s about you.
We, the players, the coaching staff, the executive committee and the board, want to wish you all a joyful festive season, a merry Christmas and a healthy New Year. Take care of yourselves, your loved ones and the people around you – and then, our big wish for 2021 is that we will all see each other in the stadium again soon, to have fun, to share our emotions and to celebrate new successes.
Merry Christmas, stay safe!
Your FC Bayern Munich
