Bayern's possible opponents in the UCL last 16

FC Bayern's 2-0 win against Lokomotiv Moscow on Wednesday evening was the perfect end to an outstanding year in the Champions League. With 16 points from six games, the defending champions finished the group stage confidently in first place. A group runner-up will be waiting in the next round, which will be played in February/March of the new year. The identity of FCB's opponents will be revealed in the draw for the Round of 16 on Monday 14 December from midday CET. fcbayern.com looks at who this might be.

Portuguese champions FC Porto finished second in group C with 13 points, behind Manchester City (16 points), and ahead of Olympiakos and Olympique Marseille (both 3). In the domestic league, coach Sérgio Conceição's team are currently third. There have been seven clashes between Bayern and Porto in the Champions League and the European Cup. With three wins, two draws and two defeats, FCB lead the historic record.

Bergamo won 1-0 at Ajax in the last group game on Wednesday.

After a 1-0 win at Ajax, Atalanta qualified for the knockout round in second place in Group D with 11 points, behind Liverpool (13). This is only the second season in the Champions League for the Italians. Last season they reached the quarter-finals, where they were narrowly defeated by eventual finalists Paris Saint-Germain. The team from Lombardy are currently ninth in the Serie A table.

Group E - Sevilla

Bayern beat Sevilla 2-1 after extra time in the UEFA Super Cup in September.

It would be a reunion with the European Super Cup opponents if Bayern were drawn to face the runners-up from Group E. Reigning Europa League champions Sevilla secured their ticket for the last 16 with 13 points, behind Chelsea (14), and ahead of FK Krasnodar (5) and Stade Rennes (1). In the domestic La Liga, Seville currently lie in sixth place. As well as the UEFA Super Cup, there was a duel between FCB and Sevilla in the 2017/18 Champions League quarter-finals. After a 2-1 first leg win in Spain, a 0-0 draw at the Allianz Arena was enough to see Bayern through.

Group F - Lazio

Lazio managed 2-2 draw against Club Bruges in the last group game with top scorer Ciro Immobile and ex-FCB goalkeeper Pepe Reina.

Lazio are waiting as possible opponents for Bayern from Group F. After a 2-2 draw in the last game against Club Bruges, the Rome club finished second with ten points behind Borussia Dortmund (13). With two wins and four draws, the Laziali remained unbeaten and qualified for the knockout stage for the second time in six attempts. In Serie A Lazio sit seventh in the table.

Group G - FC Barcelona

At the UCL final tournament in August, FC Bayern beat FC Barcelona a whopping 8-2 in the quarter-finals.

After five wins, FC Barcelona fell to a 3-0 defeat in the direct duel for first place against Juventus in the last group game. As a result, the Spaniards lost out to Juve, took second place with 15 points, and are possible opponents for FC Bayern in the last 16. The duel between Munich and Barcelona has already taken place 11 times. With seven wins, two draws and two defeats, the record is in favour of Bayern. Fans of the record champions are only too happy to think back to the last meeting at the Champions League final tournament in August.

Runners-up in Group B (Borussia Mönchengladbach) and Group H (RB Leipzig) cannot be drawn to FC Bayern, as teams from the same national association can only meet from the quarter-finals onwards.
