After permission to take off from Berlin on Friday night was denied, FC Bayern's departure for the FIFA Club World Cup after the Bundesliga match at Hertha BSC was delayed by more than seven hours. Instead of taking off shortly before midnight as originally planned, the plane with the German record champions' squad on board was not allowed to take off until 7 am in the morning. Because of the unscheduled overnight stay, the crew had to be changed and the plane had to make a stopover in Munich. From there, the plane took off for Doha at 9.15 am.
