Martínez, Gnabry, Goretzka and Co put in extra shifts for comeback

While most of the Bayern squad had a break from training on Wednesday, those recovering from injury did not have a day off. Three days before the next Bundesliga game at Eintracht Frankfurt (Saturday 20 February 2021, 15:30 CET), five took advantage of the rest day to put in an extra shift and work towards their comeback.

Javi Martínez and Leon Goretzka were able to work intensively with the ball again on Wednesday.

Leon Goretzka and Javi Martínez had already completed an individual session the previous day to continue their training programmes. In addition to some sprints and coordination exercises, the duo worked intensively with the ball again on Wednesday morning. The two midfielders are suffering from a training deficit after coronavirus infections, and Goretzka has also struggled with muscular problems, according to coach Hansi Flick.

It's slower progress for Serge Gnabry, who was able to complete some gentle laps after suffering a muscle tear in his thigh in the Club World Cup final against UANL Tigres last week. Goalkeeper Alexander Nübel (ankle injury) and young talent Malik Tillman (cruciate ligament tear) also managed to jog on the pitch again.

Goretzka and Co. were absent in the 3-3 draw against Bielefeld on Monday evening.
