Chris Richards loaned to Hoffenheim

FC Bayern will loan Chris Richards to TSG 1899 Hoffenheim until the end of the season. The aim is to offer the 20-year-old defensive player the opportunity to gain more match practice in the German top flight. The US international moved from FC Dallas to the German record champions' junior section in summer 2018 and has played 38 times in the third division, four times in the Bundesliga, three times in the Champions League and once in the DFL Supercup final.

FC Bayern board member for sport Hasan Salihamidžić said: "Chris is a great talent. He was a top performer in central defence for our reserves in the third division and has gained experience with the first team, even in the Champions League. Together we decided Chris will use the months in Hoffenheim for the next stage of his development. We're sure TSG will get a lot from him."

Chris Richards commented: "I'm looking forward to taking the next steps in my development in Hoffenheim. It's important I pick up more match practice in the Bundesliga now. I have big goals and I'd like to progress at FC Bayern."
