Wreaths laid in memory of the 1958 Munich air disaster

The memory never fades. On 6 February 1958, 23 people died in a plane crash in Munich, including eight players from the English record champions Manchester United. Saturday marked the 63rd anniversary of one of the greatest tragedies in football history. Representatives of FC Bayern and the Manchester Munich Memorial Foundation (MMMF) usually meet at the crash site in Trudering for a memorial event on this day.

In 2008 the crash site was renamed Manchesterplatz. A display case has commemorated the terrible accident since last year.

Even though the coronavirus pandemic prevented this in 2021, wreaths were laid on Manchesterplatz in Munich at 15:04 CET - the time of the crash. The fate of the victims must never be forgotten.
