3 points vs. Utd - FCB eSport keep play-off hopes alive

It started so well, but in the end it was unfortunately only enough for three points. After winning the first match against Manchester United 5-0 on Saturday, FC Bayern Esport suffered a 5-2 defeat in the second match. "We played two strong games and deserved six points. But unfortunately we only took our chances in the first match," analysed José Sánchez, summarising Matchday 8 of the KONAMI eFootball.Pro League.

The highlights:

As a result, Sánchez, Miguel Mestre and Alex Alguacil missed out on clinching a playoff spot and the gap now stands at three points. "Anything is still possible," said Sánchez, in combative mood ahead of the final matchday against leaders AS Monaco (May 8). "We're playing against title challengers, but it's imperative we get all six points. It's an all-or-nothing matchday for us and we will fight until the end."

Not rewarded for their efforts

In the first match against Man Utd, Bayern dominated the action throughout and led 4-0 at halftime. The English team hardly had any chances worth mentioning and shortly before the end the FCB scored a penalty to make the final score 5-0. The second leg, on the other hand, got off to the worst possible start and after less than 90 seconds Bayern were 1-0 down. The Munich team soon regained control and quickly equalised. The Bavarians continued to have a number of top opportunities, but the ball just would not find the net. In the second half, Bayern's pressure remained high and the deserved lead quickly followed. But United came back and converted almost every shot they had on goal - including two curious ones from the halfway line - to end as 5-2 winners.
