They were already club legends. FC Bayern secured their 31st German league title on Saturday – and Thomas Müller and David Alaba have been part of the team for each of the last 10. After winning the title in 2010, the Bayern duo have lifted the trophy nine years running from 2013 to today. The duo are now alone in first place in the all-time list of champions in 58 years of Bundesliga history, ahead of former teammate Franck Ribéry and current colleagues Manuel Neuer, Robert Lewandowski, Jérôme Boateng und Javi Martínez (all nine).

“It’s a nice thing. If you look back to 2009, when I first really broke into the first team and my career took off, it’s crazy to have won the title 10 times,” said Müller, who's amazed by his own career. “When you’re a young boy, you don’t think you’ll ever play for the Bayern first team. You’re happy if you get tickets for a game. The number of titles reflects the journey and the development I’ve been on.”
Like Müller, who has worn the Bayern shirt for two decades now, Alaba has also pretty much been part of the FCB family since childhood. “I came here as a 16-year-old from Vienna, and 13 years later we’re talking about almost half my life. The club is my family, my home,” revealed the Austrian in a recent interview. However, it looks like he will not be adding to his double-digit title haul for now, with the 28-year-old leaving Bayern and probably the Bundesliga in the summer. “They’ve just been incredibly good years,” said the versatile defender.

Both impress against Gladbach
In Bayern’s supreme 6-0 success over Gladbach on Saturday, Alaba once again reliably carried out his duties on the pitch. When he was brought off after an hour, his teammates showed him their respect by applauding him off the pitch. As for Müller, the born-and-bred Bavarian played the full 90 minutes against Borussia, but did earn congratulations in his own special way. The 31-year-old again got his name on the scoresheet for the German record champions’ with the second goal.
