Gnabry fired up for showdown in London

When Serge Gnabry travels to London, local defences quake in their boots. In his two appearances with FC Bayern in the English capital so far, the winger has scored six goals (four against Tottenham, two against Chelsea). The 25-year-old wants to build on that next Tuesday (kick-off 18:00 CEST) in the last 16 of the European Championship, because he will play England with Germany at the legendary Wembley Stadium .

Gnabry: It's gone well for me so far

"So far I've done very well when I've come back to London, hopefully on Tuesday as well," commented Gnabry, who played for Arsenal between 2011 and 2016. "For me, there's always a lot of history when we go to England because I still have some friends there as well. Hopefully they'll be in the stadium."

Gnabry is now playing the national team from his former adopted home for the first time, and is also entering new territory with the cult venue of English football. "I've never played at Wembley before. I personally and we as a team are really looking forward to the game," the forward said.

Best strike rate in Germany squad

He is also aiming for his first goal at the EUROs. "Of course, not having scored yet isn't ideal. But we've progressed as a team. I keep waiting for my chance," said Gnabry, who has the best strike rate (0.64 per game) in the Germany squad with 16 goals in 25 international appearances. For what he hopes will be his first goal at the EURO, the Round of 16 in London comes at just the right time, as Gnabry really enjoys celebrating in the metroplis.
