Nagelsmann's Bayern begin third week of pre-season

There are only 18 days to go before Bayern’s first competitive game of 2021/22 when they face Bremer SV in the DFB Cup. Following Saturday’s 3-2 friendly defeat to KölnJulian Nagelsmann’s first match as FCB head coach – the German champions kicked off the new training week on Monday afternoon.

Still lots of youth players in training

The squad still includes several youth players. “We’ll keep the boys for now. We’ve now got a normal training week, then in the fourth week we’ve got three friendly games with the same squad,” Nagelsmann said after the Köln match, where a number of young players stood out. “Some of them did really well today,“ the FCB coach stated.

International players return next week

Bayern’s international players will only return to training next week. “The majority of the boys come back on 26 July, but they still have to do their tests first,” Nagelsmann added. “After that, it’s about integrating the international players and getting the routines right as quickly as possible. But there are already a lot of outstanding things. We’ve still got some time before the first DFB Cup and Bundesliga matches. We’ll manage everything and go into the competitive fixtures well prepared.”
