Nine Campus youth players training with first team

Julian Nagelsmann and the FC Bayern first team began their preparations for the coming season on Wednesday. The new FCB coach took to his place of work at Säbener Straße for the first time with a group of 20 players. While a number of familiar faces were missing due to the Euros or a delayed return, Nagelsmann was able to take a closer look at several youth players from the FC Bayern Campus. fcbayern.com introduces the youngsters currently training alongside Dayot Upamecano, Marc Roca & Co.

Josip Stanisic, 21, right-back

Josip Stanisic signed his first professional contract at Bayern only last Thursday. And now just a week later, he’s started the new season under Nagelsmann. The 21-year-old Munich native joined the club in 2017. After 55 appearances for the U19s, he made the step up to the reserves, with whom he won the third division title. The full-back then made his senior debut on Matchday 28 of last season against Union Berlin.

Chris Scott, 19, forward

Chris Scott moved to the FC Bayern Campus from Leverkusen in January 2020. In no time at all, the 19-year-old attacker has made the leap from U19s to the reserves, where he’s played 24 games, scoring two goals and providing seven assists. Like with Stanisic, he’s already had a taste of Bundesliga football. The Cologne native played a total of 32 minutes in the games against Union and Bayer Leverkusen last season.

Remy Vita, 20, left-back

Remy Vita enjoyed a dream start to life with the FCB second team following his October 2020 move from France. The left-back didn’t just win two of his first three games but even got on the scoresheet twice. The 20-year-old made a total of 25 appearances for the reserves last season.

Malik Tillman, 19, forward

Malik Tillman was in outstanding form for the reserves, with five goals in 10 third division games, before a cruciate ligament injury halted his run. The 19-year-old has been working feverishly on his comeback since that injury in October and has now returned to the pitch with his teammates for the new season. The striker has so far made 88 appearances for FCB over his previous six years with the club.

Jamie Lawrence, 18, centre-back

It’s pretty hard to miss Jamie Lawrence on the pitch, given the centre-back stands at two metres tall. But the 18-year-old has also attracted attention thanks to his performances. The Munich native made the step up from the U19s to the reserves last season, making 28 appearances in all competitions. Lawrence also signed a contract extension in May through to 2024.

Armindo Sieb, 18, forward

Armindo Sieb moved to Bayern from Hoffenheim in July 2020 – and only three months later he’d made his senior debut. The forward came on as a substitute in the DFB Cup first-round tie against Düren, but had to go off only 24 minutes later with an ankle injury that kept him out for several months. The 18-year-old only returned for the reserves in February and scored two goals in 12 games over the remainder of the campaign.

Torben Rhein, 18, attacking midfield

On the back of six goals and six assists in 21 games for the U19s, Torben Rhein was promoted to the reserves last season, where he scored one goal in 12 games. The Berlin native plays most of his games in central midfield and was the recipient of the prestigious silver Fritz Walter Medal for 2020. Rhein signed a contract extension at the club in January.

Johannes Schenk, 18, goalkeeper

Johannes Schenk’s Bayern journey began in July 2017 at U15 level. Four years later, the 18-year-old goalkeeper is first choice for the U19s and has also featured for the FCB reserves in a friendly match. He’s so far made 24 appearances for the U17s and U19s.

Taylor Booth, 20, central midfield

Taylor Booth spent the second half of last season on loan at Austrian side St. Pölten to gain match practice. The 20-year-old American scored three goals in 17 games, while he’s made 23 appearances for the Bayern U19s and four for the reserves in two and a half years at the club.
