FC Bayern are heading west for the next leg of their 2021/22 DFB Cup journey, where they’ll meet Bundesliga rivals Borussia Mönchengladbach in the second round. The draw was made on Sunday evening during ARD-Sportschau, with German canoeing gold medallist Ronald Rauhe pulling out the names together with DFB integration ambassador and long-serving Germany international Célia Šašić. The second-round ties will be played across 26 and 27 October 2021, with the exact details still to be confirmed.

It will be Bayern’s seventh meeting with Gladbach in the competition and the record cup winners have a perfect record so far. The two sides met in the same place just a couple of weeks ago, playing out a 1-1 draw in the Bundesliga opening match. Borussia saw off third-division side 1. FC Kaiserslautern 1-0 in the first round, while Bayern thrashed fifth-tier Bremer SV 12-0 in midweek.
