For Open Monument Day on Sunday 12 September, FC Bayern are giving free access to the memorial for Kurt Landauer on the training grounds at Säbener Straße. From 14:00 to 17:00 CEST, visitors can view the bronze statue of the long-time FCB president - access is only possible via the car park on Klausener Straße.
Kurt Landauer was president of FC Bayern four times between 1913 and 1951, for a total of 19 years.
Landauer was named honorary president as early as 1922 for his services to Germany's record champions, and in 2015 Kurt-Landauer-Platz was inaugurated in his honour on the esplanade in front of the Allianz Arena. In May 2019, the memorial for the former club president was finally unveiled at the training ground at Säbener Straße. The statue was donated by the Kurt Landauer Foundation.
Every year in Munich numerous buildings such as churches, castles and museums take part in the nationwide Open Monument Day. The motto this year is: "To be and appear - in history, architecture and monument preservation".
