Goretzka: We just love playing football

What an astounding performance! FC Bayern beat VfL Bochum 7-0 at the Allianz Arena on Saturday afternoon and stormed to the top of the Bundesliga table. "We didn't give Bochum any breathing space," said Leon Goretzka, playing against his boyhood club. "Today it was a lot of fun for us, not so much for Bochum. Of course, I'm always a bit sorry about that from a personal standpoint," said the midfielder. fcbayern.com has reaction from both camps here.

Reaction from the Bayern camp:

Julian Nagelsmann: "I'm happy with the result, but also with the way we played. In the first ten minutes we still had to get through a few problems. After that, we managed very well. With the ball we had good structure. We often shifted the ball well and created many chances. In the second half, one aim was not to concede, to show the avarice required to keep a clean sheet. Overall it was a very good performance. We're happy with the result."

Leon Goretzka: "We just love playing football. We want to develop more, from game to game, and absorb our new coach's philosophy more and more. Today was a lot of fun for us, but not so much for Bochum. Of course, I'm always a bit sorry about that from a personal standpoint. We didn't give Bochum any breathing space. The first ten minutes were a bit hectic. That's when they got into playing the game they wanted to play - long balls, a lot of fighting for the second ball. But then we gradually found our structure and defended very well. That's just how we dominated."

Leroy Sané: "At the beginning you could see that Bochum were very aggressive, in every tackle. After our first goal, we got going and from then on we started to score our goals. I always try to do my best. At the moment it's going very, very well. I just want to keep going. Today I played well. Of course, there are still a few things I can improve. The coach will address them and I'll try to implement them in the next few games."

Reaction from the Bochum camp:

Thomas Reis (VfL Bochum head coach): "First of all, on behalf of the entire VfL Bochum, I would like to wish Kingsley Coman a good and speedy recovery. About the game: It's very, very tough when you hear that it's the club's biggest defeat. The first quarter of an hour was still OK. We weren't able to make the most of our counter-attacks. Then you fall behind and disaster takes its course. Congratulations to Bayern, it was absolutely deserved. We paid a heavy price today. Next week we'll put in a better performance."

Anthony Losilla (VfL Bochum captain): "I'm a bit lost for words right now. We actually started quite well, got into the game well. But as soon as we conceded the first goal, we lost our structure. Against such strong opponents, you're punished immediately. 7-0 is tough. We have to learn from this. Nobody expected us to get anything here, but we wanted to present ourselves well. Except for the first 15 minutes, unfortunately, it wasn't good enough at all."

Manuel Riemann (VfL Bochum goalkeeper): "When you come here and make it so easy for the opponent to score goals, you concede seven. Normally it's maybe two, three or four. We gifted Bayern four goals. They didn't have to do anything. Incredibly tough to take. We were not awake enough in the game."
