Benfica suffered a setback three days before their Champions League group game against Bayern as they lost top spot in the Portuguese league as a result of a last-minute equaliser in a 1-1 draw against promoted Estoril on Saturday.

Late equaliser conceded

The Jorge Jesus’s side had taken the lead inside two minutes of the game through Lucas Verissimo and were on course for the win but conceded an equaliser in the fourth minute of added time. The draw means Benfica moved onto 25 points but slipped down to third place behind Porto and champions Sporting Lisbon (both 26 points).
