At the FC Bayern Campus, there have been changes in the U11-U16 teams' personnel structure. In these age groups, the system of permanently assigned coaching teams has been broken up and a newly created position of "Team Leader of Player Development" has been filled.
New roles
From now on, a total of four people will bear sporting responsibility in their assigned age groups: Daniel Weber for the U14-U16 teams, Marcel Schneider for U11-U13 and Max Obermeier for age groups under U11. In addition, Holger Seitz, as sporting director of FC Bayern Campus, has overall responsibility for all teams, with a special focus on U17, U19 and FC Bayern's reserve side.
Variability
In addition to these new team leader positions, the traditional position of assistant coach has been modified for the U16s and younger. Each team will continue to have a head coach for its own age group, but there will now be rotating coaches who will work between the U11-U13s and U14-U16s respectively. FC Bayern's U10s will be playing for the last time in the current 2021/22 season and will then be supported by the U11-U13 division coaches in this transitional year.
"Promoting learning and development"
These restructurings are the result of a lengthy strategic planning process. "The coaching work will be focused on optimising individual and long-term player development. We expect to be able to focus even more on each individual player," explains Holger Seitz. The rotating department coaches play an important role in this, as they know all the players in the respective division, among other things. "In this way, we want to further strengthen cross-year cooperation between coaches and significantly reduce classic own age-group thinking." Seitz is confident: "We have created structures that promote trusting cooperation, learning and development."
Sports psychology team expanded
The newly created positions are accompanied by further personnel changes at the Campus. For example, Lorea Urquiaga Urcelaya has been hired in the sports psychology department to work alongside the U11-U16 teams. In future, she will work on the personal and sporting development of the talents together with their respective coach, a team leader and a coaching mentor who has yet to be appointed. Sports psychology team leader Christian Luthardt, who has been working with FC Bayern's youth teams since the opening of the Campus in 2017, will thus be able to focus even more on his work with the U17, U19 and reserve team in the future.
