FC Bayern intensifies testing and hygiene measures

On Sunday, 2 January, FC Bayern will begin preparing for the Bundesliga restart fixture against Borussia Mönchengladbach at the Allianz Arena (7 January, 20.30 CET).

In the light of the current pandemic situation and in close coordination with the Munich public health authorities, testing routines will be intensified as of the start of training, and all existing hygiene measures will also be escalated. This includes, for example, observing distancing rules, the wearing of masks and reducing contact in the vicinity of training sessions and matches.

Prof. Dr. Roland Schmidt, FC Bayern team doctor and cardiologist said: "With our hygiene concept duly adapted to the current situation and our extended testing strategy, we want to reduce the risk of contracting coronavirus infections as much as possible. In doing so, we will also pay attention to minimising close contact situations away from the football pitch."

In addition to even more intense testing and hygiene measures, booster vaccinations were mainly administered during the winter break as a key measure to protect against corona infections and reduce the risk of serious illness in the event of infection.

Schmidt: "In the cases where it was already possible, all players, coaches and staff members have received a booster vaccination. The rest either have recovered status or have been vaccinated."
