Top spot in the table retained at the weekend, the newly crowned Best FIFA Men's Player 2021 in their ranks and a returnee at training - Bayern were able to start the build-up to the Bundesliga clash at Hertha Berlin with gusto on Tuesday. Kingsley Coman was able to take part in full training again after his muscle injury and he was warmly welcomed by teammates as was Robert Lewandowski, who received countless congratulations from the team the day after receiving his award at the FIFA gala event.
Lewandowski thanks team for their support
"Many thanks for all the congratulations and support. I'm very happy to have won this award again. Winning it twice in succession means a lot to me, the team and my teammates and the whole club," said the striker following the training session with clear pride in a media interview.
The morning session for FC Bayern included crossing and shooting practice as well as an 11 aside practice match. Lewandowski and Co. again have their sights on the next task – and they certainly pack a punch. Following last Saturday's 4-0 win at FC Köln the Reds conclude matchday 20 (Sunday, 17:30 CET) away to the Old Lady in the capital as they look to maintain their six-point lead at the top of the table.
