FC Bayern extends Bright Arrey-Mbi's contract

FC Bayern has extended German junior international Bright Arrey-Mbi's contract ahead of schedule. The contract now runs to 2025. In addition to this, the 18-year-old defender will be loaned to 1. FC Köln for 18 months to get game time with the side lying eighth in the Bundesliga.

Board Member for Sport Hasan Salihamidžić: "Bright Arrey-Mbi is a young player with great potential. We're therefore pleased that we were able to extend his contract ahead of time, until 2025. He should now gain playing experience in the Bundesliga at 1. FC Köln and develop further at the next level."

Arrey-Mbi joined FC Bayern's U19s from Chelsea FC's academy in the summer of 2019. So far, he has played 34 times for the German record champions' second team, scoring twice. With the first team, he was used once in the Champions League. Born in Kaarst/North Rhine-Westphalia, Arrey-Mbi also has English citizenship, and played for England at U15 level before opting to represent the DFB at U16 level. He currently has seven appearances for the German U19 team.
