Nagelsmann: Our plan didn't work out

A tough afternoon for FC Bayern: head coach Julian Nagelsmann's team lost 4-2 to VfL Bochum on Matchday 22 of the Bundesliga season. "We certainly had our worst performance of the season and lacked all of our qualities," Joshua Kimmich said after the game. fcbayern.com has collected reaction to the match.

Reaction from the Bayern camp:

Julian Nagelsmann: "Congratulations to Bochum, they played well, it was a deserved win. It was a rubbish game, we shouldn't have allowed that to happen to us. We played very poorly in the first half. Our plan didn't work. We should have reacted earlier, as we did in the second half. After their two wonder goals it was difficult, goals aren't scored like that every day. In the first half, we were just too passive. The result in the first half was deserved. In the second half, we were better, except for the first few minutes. If we'd scored earlier in the second half, it might have got exciting again. In the end, it's a deserved win for Bochum."

Joshua Kimmich: "We certainly had our worst performance of the season over the whole game and lacked all of our usual qualities. If this kind of thing happens once a season, that's fine. But it's happening to us more often than that at the moment. We have to be careful. It has more to do with the way we approach the game. We were even 1-0 up and then we concede four goals within 20, 25 minutes. Everyone has to ask themselves whether they gave their all. That shouldn't happen to us at this level, not on this scale. Bochum didn't do badly. We have to admit that we deserved to lose."

Reaction from the Bochum camp:

Thomas Reis (VfL Bochum head coach): "We're very happy that we got the three points, points few expected us to get. On a day like this, a lot of things just fall into place. We wanted to suck the life out of  Bayern's football. The goals played their part. We're happy to have picked up another three points in pursuit of our targets. I wish Julian and the team a lot of success in the Champions League, for me they're a superb team."

Anthony Losilla (VfL Bochum's captain): "It was an awesome game from us. We knew it would be difficult against Bayern. We played fantastically. Everything worked out in our favour. Even though Bayern scored an early goal, we got into the game well. They weren't that dangerous. We had good chances and then all of a sudden everything clicked. We were good in 50/50s and upped our level well."
