Robert Lewandowski has been nominated for the 2022 Laureus World Sports Awards. The 33-year-old FIFA World Player of the Year is a finalist in the Laureus World Sportsman of the Year category. In addition to FC Bayern's top scorer, Tom Brady (American football), Novak Djokovic (tennis), Caeleb Dressel (swimming), Eliud Kipchoge (athletics) and Max Verstappen (Formula 1) make up the six nominees.
The nomination was made by more than 1,000 media professionals from over 70 countries. A total of 48 athletes or sports teams have been nominated in eight categories. The Laureus World Sports Academy, with sports legends such as Franz Beckenbauer, Boris Becker and Maria Höfl-Riesch, will now choose the winners, who will be named in April.
Lewandowski was named FIFA World Player of the Year 2021 back in January:
