FC Bayern fundraiser with SOS Children's Villages Worldwide

FC Bayern unites in calling for solidarity with the people in Ukraine and for aid. This weekend, the German record champions' football and basketball teams will send out further clear messages against war at their venues. In addition, FC Bayern and its partner SOS Children's Villages Worldwide are launching a fundraising campaign in which FC Bayern München AG and FC Bayern Hilfe eV will donate €100,000.

FC Bayern president Herbert Hainer: "We are all stunned by the terrible events in Ukraine. Our thoughts and our hearts are with the millions of innocent people who are being forced to experience suffering for which there are no words. It is important that we all show solidarity, stand together, and help. It is about humanity. The whole of FC Bayern as a club is sending out a clear signal and demanding: No more war! Our world is based on peace - war can and will never be the right way."

Director of SOS Children's Villages Worldwide Petra Horn: "We are sincerely grateful to our partners FC Bayern for their support. Fundraising campaigns like this enable us to help the children in Ukraine - because it is they who are now particularly in need of assistance, comfort and care. SOS Children's Villages Worldwide have launched an aid programme under the most difficult conditions, which is intended to benefit at least 15,000 people and in particular supports orphans, foster families and families fleeing the war."

Bayern president Herbert Hainer had already made FC Bayern's position clear last Thursday in the context of the postponement of the EuroLeague basketball match against CSKA Moscow. The following day, the club illuminated its Allianz Arena in the colours of the Ukrainian flag as a sign of solidarity. On Wednesday, the FC Bayern basketball players also sent clear signals against the war at their game against Hamburg Towers.

SOS Children's Villages Worldwide has more than 70 years of experience working with children in need and has been active in Ukraine since 2003. As part of the humanitarian aid programme, children and families are provided with food and shelter and, if possible, evacuated to safe neighbouring countries. SOS Children's Villages Worldwide also provides psychosocial support and helps reunite separated families.
