To mark the “International Weeks Against Racism”, FC Bayern and its players in football and basketball will once again be sending out a message of solidarity and diversity around its home games this weekend and next.
President Herbert Hainer: “Although our thoughts are with all the people suffering in Ukraine, we want to reaffirm our stance on this important issue again this year as part of the ‘International Weeks Against Racism’. With our ‘Reds Against Racism’, our club continues to commit to tolerance and diversity. There’s no room for racism – not in our FC Bayern family, nor in sport nor in society in general.”
The players are raising awareness of the issue on their warm-up shirts with the slogan of the cross-club initiative “Reds Against Racism”, and the message will also be illuminated on the advertising boards in the Allianz Arena. This year's initiative will conclude with FC Bayern Women's home match against SGS Essen on Sunday, 27 March, at 16:00 CET at the FC Bayern Campus, which will round off a corresponding day of action.
The club launched the initiative in March 2020 and since then it has been put into practice with many different campaigns. This year, a video clip was produced together with Munich's professional clubs and the city of Munich, including Mayor Dieter Reiter. The clip will also be shown at the match against Union Berlin at the Allianz Arena.
