Good news from Säbener Straße: Leon Goretzka took part in FC Bayern first-team training on Tuesday morning for the first time since early December 2021, with a persistent knee problem keeping the 27-year-old midfielder out of action for the German record champions. Today he took an important step on the path to his comeback.

“Eager to take the next steps”
“It went well and I enjoyed it,” said Goretzka, who completed the full session with the group. “I’m obviously eager now to take the next steps. It’s a huge relief. I hope to come back stronger.“

Tolisso also completes session
As well as Goretzka, there was a second returnee as Corentin Tolisso, who suffered a hamstring strain against Greuther Fürth on 20 February, also went the distance in the 80-minute session. Head coach Julian Nagelsmann included rondos, a tactical 11-v-11 training game and shots from the middle in the open session. Bayern host Union Berlin at the Allianz Arena this Saturday at 18:30 CET.
