Goretzka resumes team training: "It's a huge relief"

Good news from Säbener Straße: Leon Goretzka took part in FC Bayern first-team training on Tuesday morning for the first time since early December 2021, with a persistent knee problem keeping the 27-year-old midfielder out of action for the German record champions. Today he took an important step on the path to his comeback.

"It went well and I enjoyed it," said Goretzka, who completed the full session with the group. "I'm obviously eager now to take the next steps. It's a huge relief. I hope to come back stronger."

As well as Goretzka, there was a second returnee as Corentin Tolisso, who suffered a hamstring strain against Greuther Fürth on 20 February, also went the distance in the 80-minute session. Head coach Julian Nagelsmann included rondos, a tactical 11-v-11 training game and shots from the middle in the open session. Bayern host Union Berlin at the Allianz Arena this Saturday at 18:30 CET.

Lewandowski withdraws early

Robert Lewandowski sustained a minor knock during today's session and had to cut short training.
