Manuel Neuer: Happy we can celebrate with the fans

"Only FCB are German champions" - echoed through the Allianz Arena and the mood among coach and players was just as good. "When you hold the trophy in your hands, it's a great feeling," Julian Nagelsmann said, pleased with his first league title with FC Bayern. After an intense 2-2 draw against VfB Stuttgart, the Munich side received the Meisterschale on Sunday. And Thomas Müller assured his coach that it still felt good to win the league, even for the 11th time: "It's always nice to become champions." After two years, the team were finally able to celebrate the league win together with their fans. "We are happy that we now have the trophy in our hands, can show it to the fans and celebrate with them," said captain Manuel Neuer. fcbayern.com has reaction from both sides here.

Reaction to lifting the trophy

Julian Nagelsmann: "From a head coach's point of view, the game against Dortmund was obviously more important, but when you then hold the trophy in your hands, it's a nice feeling. For the fans it was a good game, both teams wanted to win. It was entertaining, with many chances. We did many things well with the ball. Overall, we didn't defend well in phases after losing the ball. We gave away too many chances."

Manuel Neuer: "We are happy that we can now hold the trophy in our hands, show it to our fans and celebrate with them. The last times fans weren't here, so it was very important that the fans were there again. Today, unfortunately not everything worked. The result is not what we wanted."

Thomas Müller: "It's always nice to become champions, especially when you see the staff and your teammates. We wanted to win at home and we were up for it. In the end we drew 2-2 and made mistakes. I should have made it 3-1 in the second half as well."

Reaction from the VfB camp:

Sven Mislintat (VfB Stuttgart sporting director): "Congratulations to Bayern on the league title. If you look at the second half, we could be unhappy with just a draw. But we are happy to take a point."

Pellegrino Matarazzo (VfB Stuttgart head coach): "There was a lot of heart in it. I am very happy with the point. We were in the game from the first minute. It was good to take the lead, then we dropped a bit too deep and too far away from the opponents. Against Bayern, you simply have to survive their chances sometimes. In the first half, we had chances to calm the game down. We didn't take advantage of that. We wanted to be brave and we were."

Sasa Kalajdzic (VfB Stuttgart striker): "Congratulations to Bayern. The league win is absolutely deserved. If you look at the game as a whole, a draw is fair. We had gilt-edged chances, but Bayern had some too."
