You could feel the excitement even before entering the famous Lambeau Field. As the FC Bayern team, coaches and staff drove on the bus to the American football temple in Green Bay, it was obvious how people celebrate a matchday in the USA. The American fans sat tailgating in their front yards or made a pilgrimage in the streets towards the stadium. Lambeau Field, usually home to the Green Bay Packers, became a soccer stronghold on Saturday evening.
78,128 spectators not only provided a breath-taking atmosphere and a sold-out spectacle - despite a persistent storm at several stages - but were also part of the first football (soccer) match ever to be played at the oldest stadium in the National Football League (NFL), Lambeau Field in Green Bay, Wisconsin. FC Bayern and Manchester City are now part of its 65-year history. And the teams repaid that to the spectators in the stands with the best football entertainment.
