What a reception for Sadio Mané. The newly crowned African Player of the Year had a broad smile on his face when he was presented with a surprise gift of a huge cake by Oliver Kahn and Hasan Salihamidžić ahead of training on Tuesday. With a great reception from his teammates, the directors and Julian Nagelsmann congratulated the 30-year-old on behalf of FC Bayern for winning the coveted award of African Player of the Year (further info here).

"Winning that title once is really outstanding. But winning it a second time is historic and fantastic. You can be proud of that and we are proud of you," said Kahn to Mané.
African Player of the Year Mané
Mané won the Africa Cup of Nations with Senegal in February. In the competition he scored three goals and provided two assists and he converted the winning spot kick in the 4-2 win on penalties against Egypt in the final. He also led Senegal to qualification for the 2022 World Cup. Mané was previously voted the best player in Africa in 2019.
