Chris Richards leaves FC Bayern for Crystal Palace

Chris Richards is moving from FC Bayern to Crystal Palace. The 20-year-old defender joined the youth set-up at the German record champions in 2018 from partner club FC Dallas. His impressive development earned him a professional contract to 2025.

Hasan Salihamidzic, FC Bayern board member for sport: “Chris Richards came to the FC Bayern Campus at the age of 18. He demonstrated his talent in his first year when he played for our reserves. That’s why we signed him from FC Dallas, and Chris went on to develop really well on loan at Hoffenheim. Now his big desire is to succeed in the Premier League. We wanted to make that possible and we wish him all the best at Crystal Palace.”

Richards made ten appearances for the FC Bayern first team. He played 37 games for the reserves (four goals) and was a regular starter in the side that won the third division title in 2020. He spent the second half of the 2020/21 season and the whole of the last campaign on loan at Hoffenheim, where he made 34 appearances (one goal).
