Bayern’s first open training session of 2022/23

Säbener Straße looked resplendent on Sunday morning as fans returned to Bayern’s training ground for the team’s first open training session of the season. Over 800 supporters came by to be welcomed by the Bayern first team in good spirits and in bright late-summer sunshine.

Construction work on the safety fences had so far prevented a training session with fans in attendance, so the joy among the players was even greater as they were reunited with their supporters. As usual after a game, only members of Julian Nagelsmann’s team who didn’t start the previous day’s 1-1 draw at Union Berlin were in action out on the pitch.

Plenty of autographs and selfies

Nevertheless, the players from the starting XI didn’t shy away from greeting their fans ahead of individual sessions inside. Sadio Mane, Serge Gnabry & Co. were hard at work signing autographs, posing for selfies – and making the session start a good quarter of an hour late. The anger at dropping points the previous day in Berlin was quickly gone.

Gearing up for Inter

They then got down to business out on the pitch. Eagle-eyed viewers will have noticed that the Champions League balls were already out for this session. Bayern kick off their European campaign on Wednesday with a trip to Inter Milan. Thomas Müller, Leon Goretzka and the rest started their preparations for that important game at the San Siro with great vigour and worked up a sweat with shooting drills and small matches.
