There are no more excuses, next time out we have to win," said board member for sport Hasan Salihamidžić. fcbayern.com has the match reaction…
Reaction from the Bayern camp:
Hasan Salihamidžić: "We haven't won in four league games. We’ve taken three points from a possible 12, so I'm a little worried. You can't win in the Bundesliga the way we played today. We lacked focus and the desire to put the ball in the net with the chances we had, and we gave away chances too. We have problems against teams that are physical against us. If we don't bring discipline, hunger and physicality, we can't win. Now there are no more excuses, we have to pick up some wins."
Julian Nagelsmann: "We had a lot of chances. We wasted a lot of presentable opportunities, we were too lax in the final third. Augsburg played with real courage, they pushed everyone forward. We conceded, and from then on it was tough. We just wasted loads of chances. At the end of the day, we’ve not been picking up enough points. We’ve had plenty of chances to win.”
Thomas Müller: "After four games without a win, we’re stunned and crestfallen. There’s not much to be positive about when you lose 1-0. We had a lot of chances but if you don’t score, you can’t win. The last chance was a big one. Manuel Neuer almost scored his first professional goal, but Rafał Gikiewicz was on form.”
Leon Goretzka: "We had some chances to score, but our finishing wasn’t what it should be. They play pretty basic football, but they do it well. We switched off and they scored. We have to start winning again - that was our aim today, but it didn’t pan out and that’s not good enough.”
Reaction from the Augsburg camp:
Stefan Reuter (FC Augsburg general manager): “That was hugely important. Hats off to my team for the heart they showed out there. You always need a bit of luck against Bayern, and there are times when you have to sit deep - but we’ve never had so many chances against them like we did today. We could even have taken the lead in the first half. As a team, you have to fight with real passion against Bayern, and they did that today. They were rewarded with the win.”
Enrico Maaßen (FC Augsburg coach): “If you want to beat Bayern, you have to fight. We had to suffer, we had to run hard off the ball and conceded chances. We have an exceptional goalkeeper and an exceptional backline. I’m proud we were able to pull it off. Of course we can say luck played its part, but the team deserved it.”
Rafał Gikiewicz (FC Augsburg goalkeeper): “We had to work really hard off the ball. We’re delighted, it was a good team effort. We had a bit of luck, but you’re not going to beat Bayern at home for the second time in a row without it.”
