Manuel Neuer: We should have put it to bed

FC Bayern appeared to have victory in the bag in Der Klassiker, but Borussia Dortmund completed a late comeback to secure a 2-2 draw. "Obviously it's hard to take because they scored so late, but it wasn't completely undeserved," admitted coach Julian Nagelsmann at full time. "It's down to us today. We should have put the game to bed with the third goal," bemoaned captain Manuel Neuer. fcbayern.com rounds up the reaction...

Reaction to the Dortmund draw

Julian Nagelsmann: "The teams were well matched. We were a little better in the second half, but Dortmund had some decent passages. At the end of the day, it's a fair result. We had two or three chances to put the game to bed. After that, we didn't defend well for their first goal. Then Dortmund threw everything forward. For the equaliser, we had to put more pressure on [Nico] Schlotterbeck. If we'd done that, they wouldn't have scored. Obviously it's tough to take because they equalised so late, but it's not completely undeserved."

Manuel Neuer: "It's on us today. We should've put it to bed with the third goal. We had enough chances, but we didn't make the right decisions. Perhaps we lacked a bit of composure and focus. Mistakes happen in football, but perhaps there've been too many of those lately."

Leon Goretzka: "Two things: We had enough second-half chances that we didn't take. When that happens, you have to defend until the very end, which we didn't do. A 2-0 lead is always dangerous. We weren't playing against any old team. It's annoying, we're not happy. We played well today, but weren't clinical enough. There's been too much of that recently."

Reaction from the Dortmund camp

Edin Terzic (Borussia Dortmund coach): "Obviously I'm delighted. We're happy that we were able to show people how much we wanted to win the game. It's not easy against Bayern. We've come away with a point. We wanted to win the game, but unfortunately didn't today."

Niklas Süle (Borussia Dortmund): "In the first half, we held our own, didn't give much away and had chances of our own. We know Bayern have the quality and are dangerous. We had to withstand the pressure, and I'm delighted we did."

Anthony Modeste (Borussia Dortmund): "I scored to make it 2-2 which, in the end, is what matters most. It's a great day. It was very important for us. We're happy to take the point."
