FC Bayern Esports to begin new season on 11 February
The FC Bayern Esports team will start the new season of the Konami eFootball Championship Pro with their new squad from 13:00 CET on 11 February. After their narrow defeat in the final last year, the team are hoping to challenge again this season.
The central component is the duo of Miguel Mestre and José Sánchez under coach Matthias Luttenberger, who want to build on the strong performances of last season. In addition, Mücahit "Mucahit21" Sevimli will be the third player in the team this season. With third place at the IESF eFootball World Championship in Bali in December, newcomer Mücahit has been impressing on the international stage. Alex Alguacil is leaving the FC Bayern Esports team, which was founded in December 2019, to join Barcelona. "We have celebrated many successes in the last three years. On behalf of the team, we would like to thank Alex for his commitment," said coach Luttenberger. FC Bayern wishes Alex all the best for the future.

In contrast to last season, all matchdays will once again take place in person in Barcelona after the coronavirus break and will be broadcast live and with German commentary on the FC Bayern Esports Twitch channel. "The return to Barcelona is exciting and there is great excitement," said Mestre, who is looking forward to the emotions and direct contact with teammates and opponents at an in-person event. The FC Bayern Esports team will face the following opponents on the seven matchdays of the preliminary round:
- Matchday 1: Saturday, 11 February 2023 – Monaco
