Julian Nagelsmann: The late goal will do us good

Joshua Kimmich scored late as FC Bayern extended their unbeaten run in the Bundesliga to 10 matches in Tuesday's 1-1 draw at home to Köln. "The late goal will do us good," said Julian Nagelsmann after a classic game of two halves. "We definitely have to talk about the first half again," Kimmich said, summing up the mood in the Bayern camp.

Reaction to the Köln game

Julian Nagelsmann: "I think we deserved the point. We made changes for the second half and played well after that. The late goal will do us good, though two points from the first two games of the year is not enough. We set the bar with our second-half performance - that's how we should be playing over the full 90 minutes. If we do that, I'm pretty confident going into the next game on Saturday [against Eintracht Frankfurt]."

Joshua Kimmich: "We definitely have to talk about the first half again, especially in terms of our attitude, approach and desire. We conceded another goal from a set-piece. That's happened too often during the first half of the season. We need to rectify that as quickly as possible. The second half was better."

Yann Sommer: "We didn't play well in the first half, it was scrappy. In the second half, we had more drive and better positioning. Of course, it's never easy against such a defensively minded team that shuts down the spaces. If we'd have equalised earlier, the win would have been on."

Reaction from the Köln camp

Steffen Baumgart (Köln coach): "I have no complaints - it was a very good performance. We'd have liked to have done better in attack, but Bayern are just too good. I'm happy with the point - we have no gripes with the late goal. We worked hard and gave it everything."

Florian Kainz (Köln midfielder): "We played well, but you have to say Bayern deserved their equaliser. They just have so much quality, but we can be happy with our performance."

Benno Schmitz (Köln defender): "We didn't hide, we played our own game. It was incredibly tough in the second half. Bayern had us under the cosh, but we played well."
