For coach Julian Nagelsmann, FC Bayern's 1-1 draw with RB Leipzig was something of a mixed bag. "It was good in parts, but there were things we could have done better," he explained after 2023's opening Bundesliga fixture, in which Bayern surrendered a first-half lead.
Bayern newcomer Yann Sommer, meanwhile, is already looking ahead to the club's next assignment: "We go again on Tuesday, and want to get into a flow."

Reaction to the game in RB Leipzig
Julian Nagelsmann: "It was good in parts, but there were things we could have done better. It was an exciting game, if not a little frantic at times. That's normal when you haven't played for a couple of months. With a bit more composure in the first half, we could have scored more. The goal we conceded in the second half was completely unnecessary. We didn't give much away, but we weren't switched on enough in attack. All in all, we were a bit too frenetic in the final third. We failed to make the most of a few presentable opportunites. Now we have time to work on a few things before Tuesday."
Joshua Kimmich: "Overall, it was an evenly balanced game. We didn't create much in the first half, but didn't give much away either and deserved to take the lead. At the end of the day, we'd have won the game but for my mistake. That said, we didn't have a lot of possession today and it was a bit frenetic. Overall, the draw's a fair result. We can live with a point. Now we have to try and put a run together."
Yann Sommer: "It was an intense game of Bundesliga football, and not everything went entirely according to plan. I haven't been with the team for long, and they don't know me all that well. But we can be happy with a point against a very good Leipzig team. We go again on Tuesday, and want to get into a flow. I'm really looking forward to the new challenge at such a big club."
Reaction from the Leipzig camp
Marco Rose (RB Leipzig coach): "I had the feeling there was more in it for us. The first half was too untidy. Bayern kept having phases where they were able to put us under pressure. We'd win it back, but then be too slow shifting the ball forwards. The second half was very good - we were better than Bayern. We'll take a point against such a good team."
Marcel Halstenberg (RB Leipzig defender): "We all felt there was more in it for us today. Bayern made a few mistakes, but we can be satisfied. Bayern are the stronger team, but we still had chances. We want to keep picking up the points."
Xaver Schlager (RB Leipzig midfielder): "We wanted to win. We didn't play a good first half, and Bayern punished us. But we started to play our way in the second half and had chances. That's why we're not entirely satisfied with the draw. There was more to be had."
