The FC Bayern players and staff have turned their sights to Union Berlin! On Tuesday morning, the men from Munich began preparations for the top-of-the-table Bundesliga clash against the third-placed team from the capital. Kick-off at the Allianz Arena next Sunday is at 17:30 CET. There was welcome news on the selection front as Kingsley Coman and Paul Wanner resumed the squad programme. Coman was subbed off 15 minutes before the end of last Tuesday's 1-0 Champions League victory over PSG and also sat out the Bundesliga fixture at Borussia Mönchengladbach on Saturday. Wanner was last in the squad for the home match against Bochum on 11 February.
Sharpening senses in a mini-tournament
In spring-like temperatures and bright sunshine at the Säbener Straße facility, coach Julian Nagelsmann began readying his team for the big clash with Union Berlin. The schedule for Sadio Mané and Co. included an internal tournament. Four teams competed against each other on a small-sided pitch. In the end, the team comprising Yann Sommer, Joshua Kimmich, Leon Goretzka, Alphonso Davies, Jamal Musiala and Arijon Ibrahimović ran out as winners.
Back to winning ways
After the 3-2 defeat at Mönchengladbach last Saturday, Bayern are determined to get back on track and send out a strong signal in the race for the German championship. Their upcoming opponents from Berlin are third, levvel on points with the league leaders from Munich - Borussia Dortmund are also on 43 points in second place. Union remain undefeated this year, collecting 16 points from their six league games so far.
