Bayern family bids farewell to Rainer Ulrich

A moving farewell to Rainer Ulrich, who will be forever remembered at FC Bayern not only as a long-time coach in the youth section, training young players like Sammy Kuffour, Alexander Zickler and David Alaba, but above all as a special person. His funeral service took place on Friday in Straßlach near Munich with around 200 guests, including numerous companions from his time at FC Bayern, VfB Stuttgart and Karlsruher SC.

The FC Bayern family was represented by technical director Marco Neppe and Joshua Kimmich, as well as quite a few companions from many years together: From Matthias Sammer, Felix Magath, Hermann Gerland, Egon Coordes, Wolfgang Dremmler, Tim Walter or Werner Kern to, among others, Manfred Schwabl, Michael Sternkopf, Michael Tarnat and Holger Badstuber to Uschi Müller, the widow of Gerd Müller, with whom Ulrich once worked together as a coaching team for club’s reserve team. The colours of FC Bayern were also represented with flowers in red and white.

Ulrich passed away in January at the age of 73. FC Bayern will also remember him separately at the first Regionalliga home game after the winter break on February 24 against Unterhaching.
