Bayern underlined their reputation as fast starters in the 4-2 win at Wolfsburg. The ice-cold record champions were 2-0 up after 14 minutes, taking their tally for goals inside the opening quarter of matches this season to a league-leading 10. By the 19th-minute mark, Bayern were already three goals to the good, thanks in no small part to two superb Kingsley Coman efforts. The 2022 World Cup runner-up put his stamp on the game early to lead Bayern to their seventh away win of the Bundesliga campaign.
Cross-shot lands Coman second goal of season
Wolfsburg had won their last three home matches without conceding, but Bayern didn't take long to find a breakthrough. Julian Nagelsmann's side set up camp in the Wolves' half from the get-go, scarcely giving captain Maximilian Arnold any room to manoeuvre.
Coman was instrumental, and was already celebrating with just nine minutes on the clock. The French winger's seemingly harmless cross from fully 25 yards evaded everyone in the penalty box on its way into the back of the net as Bayern forged ahead.
Full-blooded strike for 2-0
Coman's second strike was even better. Connecting at the back post with new signing João Cancelo's inch-perfect cross, the seven-time Bundesliga winner - who's been with Bayern since 2015 - sent a textbook volley into the far corner.
Coman wasn't the only standout Bayern player in the opening exchanges, either. Just as he did on his DFB Cup debut, Cancelo shone on his first Bundesliga outing. The Portuguese full-back married defensive diligence with attacking pizzazz, whilst producing his second assist in as many games for the club.
First Bundesliga brace in almost four years
As well as leading Bayern to their 11th Bundesliga win this season, Coman's second and third goals of the campaign represented his second brace for the record champions. His first fell back in April 2019, in a routine 4-1 victory away to Fortuna Düsseldorf.
Coman now has three goals against Wolfsburg, putting the 2009 Bundesliga champions firmly among his favourite opponents. The 2020 Champions League final matchwinner has only found the net more often in meetings with Mainz (four goals).
