FC Bayern and the world of football in Germany mourn the passing of Ernst Huberty, one of the true greats in the history of German sports journalism. The Luxembourg-born journalist, for many still known as ‘Mr. Sportschau’ today, passed away on Monday night at the age of 90, as announced by WDR.

Herbert Hainer, FC Bayern president: “Ernst Huberty was the first to present the ‘Sportschau’ – he became its face and much more than that. With his reports, he wrote German sporting history, thrilled people over decades and he also became a role model for subsequent generations of journalists. Ernst Huberty brought football to our homes in his inimitable and masterful manner. The thoughts of FC Bayern are with his family at this time.”
