Thomas Tuchel, Bundesliga champion

Thomas Tuchel wins first Bundesliga title

Thomas Tuchel has his first title as Bayern coach after the 2-1 win away at Köln, paired with Borussia Dortmund’s 2-2 draw at home to Mainz, brought the title back to Munich for another year and earned Tuchel his first Bundesliga winner’s medal.

While it’s the 33rd time Bayern have been champions of Germany, it’s a first for the Krumbach native at senior level, adding to the U19 titles the 49-year-old previously won in charge at VfB Stuttgart and Mainz.

Tuchel: “It’s indescribable”

Thomas Tuchel and his coaching staff celebrate Bayern’s 33rd championship title.

Tuchel explained after wrapping up the title what it means for him but also his coaching staff: “When Leroy [Sane] didn’t score, I thought that this game summed up the whole time I’ve been in charge and maybe also the whole season. But we showed a reaction again today. Jamal [Musiala] made another statement. It’s indescribable.”

The road to Bundesliga glory wasn’t an easy one for Bayern as a team or for Tuchel as boss. The Reds were pushed all the way on the final matchday and proved once again their fighting quality and desire to win. And after an incredibly dramatic finale, FCB can walk away as 11-time defending champions of Germany.

Full focus on new season

Thomas Tuchel,

Tuchel celebrated Bayern’s 11th straight title with his team and backroom staff.

While the team are now preparing for a summer holiday, the head coach’s focus is already turning towards the new season. “The game showed what we have to do better. We have to be more goal-driven and more focused,” Tuchel stated. He and his team want to be back on the summit again next season, hopefully also with more than just the Bundesliga Meisterschale in their hands.

Wins over Dortmund, Union Berlin and Freiburg were among the key moments in this title victory:
