The FC Bayern München AG Supervisory Board has resolved to make a new appointment to the position of sporting director.
Herbert Hainer: "The course of this season after the winter break and differing views on the future direction of our team have led us to agree with Hasan Salihamidžić on an immediate termination of his contract. The decision was a difficult one for us. Hasan has been instrumental in all of our national and international successes since 2017, including winning the Champions League, six German championships, the European Supercup and the Club World Cup. In a constructive, respectful conversation, Uli Hoeneß and I communicated our decision and our reasons to Hasan. On behalf of FC Bayern, I would like to thank Hasan Salihamidžić very much for his work, his commitment and his identification with FC Bayern. We wish him all the best for the future. He will remain a friend of FC Bayern."
Hasan Salihamidžić: "I am proud to have worked for FC Bayern for almost six years with responsibility for sporting matters. I would like to thank all the players, the coaches, the entire team behind the team and the staff. It has been a great journey, which I would have liked to continue, but I respect the decision of the Supervisory Board. FC Bayern stands above everything else, and I wish our team and our fans cohesion and success."
After his time as a player, Hasan Salihamidžić returned to FC Bayern as sporting director on 1 August 2017. He was promoted to board member for sport on 1 July 2020. During his time in charge, FC Bayern won the Champions League, the Club World Cup, the European Supercup, as well as the German championship six times, the DFB Cup twice and the DFL Supercup five times. As a player, he celebrated successes in the Champions League, the Club World Cup, six German championships and four DFB Cup and League Cup victories with the club between 1998 and 2007.
