Karl-Heinz Rummenigge appointed to supervisory board

The FC Bayern München AG general assembly appointed Karl-Heinz Rummenigge as member of the FC Bayern München AG supervisory board at their regular meeting on Tuesday.

Herbert Hainer, chairman of the FC Bayern supervisory board: "We're happy to have brought in Karl-Heinz Rummenigge as a member of our supervisory board. He's one of the greatest figures in the history of our club, everyone knows what he's done. His experience, his expertise and his international network will help us enormously to ensure FC Bayern continues to be successful in the future."

Karl-Heinz Rummenigge: "I thank the supervisory board for their trust and I'm pleased to assist FC Bayern on this board going forward. I had the great fortune and honour to celebrate many successes with this club, so I gladly agreed to the supervisory board's request."

Rummenigge, 67, won the European Cup, Bundesliga and DFB Cup twice each as a player for Bayern between 1974 and 1984, as well as the Intercontinental Cup and DFB-Supercup. He returned to the German record champions as vice president in 1991 and led FC Bayern München AG as CEO from 2002 to July 2021. During this time, the club achieved the treble in 2013 and the historic six-trophy year in 2020. In total under Rummenigge's leadership, Bayern collected 14 league titles, 10 DFB Cups and two Champions League trophies.

The FC Bayern München AG supervisory board consists of chairman Herbert Hainer (president of FC Bayern München eV), Dr. Jan Heinemann (General Counsel & Chief Compliance Officer adidas AG), Markus Duesmann (CEO of Audi AG), Dr. Werner Zedelius (Senior Advisor Allianz SE), Uli Hoeneß (honorary president of FC Bayern München eV), Thorsten Langheim (board member responsible for USA and group development at Deutsche Telekom AG), Professor Dr. Dieter Mayer (first vice president of FC Bayern München eV),  Dr. Edmund Stoiber (former Minister-President of Bavaria) and Karl-Heinz Rummenigge (long-serving CEO of FC Bayern München AG).
