Bayern end intense training camp of ‘good spirit and desire to work’
Jamal Musiala & Co. got down to business one last time on Thursday morning as Bayern’s squad faced an intense 80-minute training session in front of fans at their Tegernsee training camp. After warming up, some passing drills and small-field matches, head coach Thomas Tuchel and his staff had his players complete several endurance and strength exercises. New signing Minjae Kim was also involved with the team for parts of proceedings before the South Korean defender continued his individual programme in the fitness tent.
Thursday’s session was the end of the six-day camp in Rottach-Egern. “It was a good training camp. We’ve got a lot in our legs. The spirit and desire to work were positive. We had a good spirit in the sessions, have taken a step forward, also in terms of tactics and playing principles,” Tuchel summarised. The team had a total of eight training sessions at the Sportpark am Birkenmoos. Bayern also contested their first friendly of pre-season on Tuesday, beating local amateur side FC Rottach-Egern 27-0.
Like Tuchel, Joshua Kimmich also looks back on the training camp positively: “The focus was on many hard sessions. We’ve focused on several points. There were also a few open sessions. I think everyone’s happy.“
Following their return to Munich, Bayern will have Friday off before the Allianz FC Bayern Team Presentation on Sunday and then the start of the Audi Summer Tour in Asia on Monday. “We’ve still got three sessions in Munich, then fly to Asia. We’ll use the time there to spread a lot of intensity. When we come back, things come thick and fast. That’s why we’ll try to take the weather and time difference in Asia into little consideration, but keep training so we get enough miles in our legs,” Tuchel said looking ahead to the coming weeks.
