Bayern posted a close but deserved victory in the Audi Football Summit against Kawasaki Frontale on Saturday. In the clash with the four-time Japanese champions, the German record champions deservedly prevailed 1-0 thanks to Josip Stanišić's goal in the 57th minute. "Our opponents made a better start, we still had somewhat heavy legs. Then we controlled the game very well," said head coach Thomas Tuchel after the second warm-up game of this year's Audi Summer Tour. "Playing here is really fun. A huge thank you to all the fans who were here," said a delighted Stanišić. fcbayern.com has compiled the reaction to the second Audi Football Summit of the Tour.
Reaction to FC Bayern vs Kawasaki Frontale
Thomas Tuchel: "Our opponents made a better start, we still had somewhat heavy legs. Then we controlled the game very welll. In the second half we gave up chances and only later controlled the game better again. At the moment we're taking steps forward, I thought we might be able to take a rather bigger step today. It's no use if we're too impatient. We've trained a lot, we're tired. Tomorrow we fly to Singapore, and we'll try to show more progress there against Liverpool."
Joshua Kimmich: "I think it was clear in certain situations today that we were a little wayward and weary. Overall, I do believe we've taken a step forward, especially in terms of our routines. Once we're less tired, we can definitely put that into practice better.“
Josip Stanišić: "It was the tough game we expected. We knew they were aggressive but also play good football. We tried to play out from the back. We won and kept a clean sheet, even if there was a bit of luck involved at times. For me, every goal is beautiful because I don't score that many. There was also luck involved and I tried to implement what we trained. It's my first visit to Japan and I'm thrilled by the fans. They were always up for it, they're football-mad. Playing here is really fun. A huge thank you to all the fans who were here."
Matthijs de Ligt: "At the beginning, our opponents pressed us very hard, which caused us to lose possession a lot. Overall, we didn't play that well today today. But we created a lot of chances, the problem is our finishing. We have to work on that. The important thing today was all of us getting game time.“
View from the Kawasaki Frontale camp
Tōru Oniki (Kawasaki Frontale head coach): "It was a good opportunity to play against a great team. They have a very high intensity in their game. We were able to exert pressure and win possession. But Bayern of course have a lot of quality and quick players. We didn't keep it tight enough and left too much space."
