Title celebrations and Heynckes' temporary farewell
FC Bayern 3-0 FC Augsburg on 11 May 2013 (Matchday 12)
It was the start of an incredible run of what would become 11 consecutive league titles! Thanks to an outstanding season with 29 wins from 34 games, May 2013 saw Bayern reclaiming the Bundesliga title for the first time in two years. In the last home match of the season on Matchday 33, the clash against FCB's fellow Bavarians not only ended with the presentation of the Meisterschale, but also by saying what would turn out to be a temporary farewell to head coach Jupp Heynckes. Thanks to goals from Thomas Müller (69'), Xherdan Shaqiri (82') and Luiz Gustavo (88'), the Munich side gave their coach a fitting farewell in front of his home crowd and clinched the first trophy of the treble-winning season.
Goalfest at the Allianz Arena
FC Bayern 6–0 FC Augsburg on 1 April 2017 (Matchday 33)
In the past, numerous teams have experienced first-hand that the Allianz Arena can be a tough place to visit. The same fate also befell FCA, who suffered their biggest defeat to date against the record champions in the 2016/17 season. The Munich side sent their neighbours back home to Augsburg, just 60 kilometres away, with a 6-0 defeat. Robert Lewandowski was the main factor in the win, scoring three goals of his own (17', 55', 79') and setting up two others. A brace from Thomas Müller (36', 80') and an effort from Spain's Thiago (62') boosted the result significantly and gave the men from Munich their tenth win in the 12th Bundesliga clash with FCA.
Title Nr. 28 in Augsburg
FC Augsburg 1-4 FC Bayern on 7 April 2018 (Matchday 29)
In April 2018, Bayern were crowned German champions in neighbouring Augsburg. Following a 6-0 thrashing of BVB, it was clear the record champions could secure the Meisterschale in the 2017/18 campaign with a win at Augsburg with five matchdays still to go. The Bavarians followed up their intentions with action, even if the game did not get off to a good start after Niklas Süle's own goal (18') initially put FCA ahead. However, it was followed by the Reds showing their class in a clinical manner. The Munich side turned the game around and headed into the break with a 2-1 lead thanks to goals from Corentin Tolisso (32') and James Rodriguez (38'). Arjen Robben (62') and Sandro Wagner (87') increased the lead to 4-1 in the second half. Although the trophy didn't get presented after the match, Bayern still celebrated their sixth triumph in a row with their fans in style.
Impressive fan tifo at anniversary match
FC Bayern 2–0 FC Augsburg on 8 March 2020 (Matchday 25)
To mark the club's 120th anniversary, the fans came up with a gigantic tifo before the home match against FC Augsburg on Matchday 25 of the 2019/20 season. The record champions' supporters decked out the Allianz Arena in red and white and displayed historic club logos. In addition, the FCB players donned special jerseys designed in the style of the ones worn during the first German championship win in 1932. In a convincing display, Bayern won 2-0 with goals from Thomas Müller and Leon Goretzka. It was the last match before the Bundesliga was suspended due to the pandemic.
Lewandowski achieves the impossible
FC Bayern 5-2 FC Augsburg on 22 May 2021 (Matchday 34)
There are certain records that seem virtually unbeatable. One such record was that of Gerd Müller, who scored an incredible 40 goals for FC Bayern in the Bundesliga in the 1971/72 season. A record that was unrivalled until 22 May 2021 - until one Robert Lewandowski came along. After 49 years, the Pole managed to beat Müller's goal record by one goal. On the last matchday of the 2020/21 season, the centre-forward scored his 41st goal of the campaign - against FCA. For a long time it seemed as if the striker was not going to be able to get the crucial goal to break the record. It wasn't until the 90th minute that Lewy took advantage of a rebound with a tap-in to stroke the ball over the line. Bayern won 5-2 in the end, and Lewandowski entered the history books of the Bundesliga with a new sensational record.
FC Bayern has worked out a concept with its fans to create a culture of watchfulness in the Allianz Arena and to make fans feel even safer.
