
The Bavarian football family is mourning the death of Heinrich Schmidhuber, the former president of the Bavarian Football Association (BFV). Schmidhuber, a native of Freyung in Lower Bavaria, passed away at the age of 87.
Herbert Hainer, FC Bayern president: “Heinrich Schmidhuber shaped football in Bavaria and beyond the borders of the Free State with passion and expertise. For his services, he received the Grand Cross of the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany and was appointed honorary president of the Bavarian Football Association. FC Bayern stands alongside his relatives and friends in mourning.”
Schmidhuber took over as president of the Bavarian FA in 1998 and held the position for six years. From 2004 to 2007, he was treasurer at the German FA (DFB).
