The German FA (DFB) announced the calendar for the coming 2024/25 season on Friday. It sees Bundesliga clubs kick off their campaigns with the first round of the DFB Cup on 16-19 August 2024. However, the two teams who contest the Supercup on Saturday, 17 August will play their first-round fixtures on 27/28 August.
Bundesliga opener on 23 August 2024
The curtain lifts on the Bundesliga season the following week with the opening game on Friday, 23 August and will continue up to the winter break following Matchday 15 (20-22 December), with three international breaks in between (1-8 September, 7-15 October and 11-19 November). Domestic action resumes with Matchday 16 (10-12 January 2025) and then a round of midweek fixtures. The final matchday sees all nine games played simultaneously on Saturday, 17 May.
Cup final on 24 May 2025
The DFB Cup final at Berlin’s Olympiastadion will be played seven days later on Saturday, 24 May. The play-offs for the Bundesliga/Bundesliga 2 and Bundesliga 2/3. Liga are scheduled to be held between 22 and 27 May.
