On Wednesday evening, Matthijs De Ligt had to be taken off with a knee injury in the DFB Cup match against FC Saarbrücken after just 25 minutes. “It is the same knee again, the same cartilage. It's very painful. As of yet, we have no diagnosis,” said Thomas Tuchel following the cup tie. The 24-year-old centre-back had only returned from a three-week injury lay-off in mid-October, after having previously sustained a blow to the knee in a game against VfL Bochum.
